Early Life

Zhou Ying was the son of Emperor Taiming and Imperial Consort Lady Xi. He was the third prince of Wan during his father's reign. His mother was the younger sister of Xi Zhengde, the Marquis of Yongning, and the Marquis's son Xi Ping was his cousin.1

Xi Ping and Zhou Ying grew up close, and they were study companions for years during Xi Ping's childhood. Xi Ping often went running to Zhou Ying's residence, Prince Zhuang Manor, whenever he got into trouble.1
